2 Chainz is an American rapper and member of the hip hop duo Playaz Circle. He was formerly known as Tity Boi. His studio albums include Based on a T.R.U. Story (2012), B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time (2013) and Pretty Girls Like Trap Music (2017). 2 Chainz was born Tauheed Epps on September 12, 1977 in College Park, Georgia. He has a younger brother named Dimatri. Epps attended North Clayton High School followed by Alabama State University. He played both varsity and college basketball.

CAREER
2 Chainz and fellow rapper Dolla Boy formed the hip hop duo ‘Playaz Circle’ in 1997. He went by the moniker ‘Tity Boi’ at the time. Their first major project ‘United We Stand, United We Fall’ was independently released in 2002. Playaz Circle was later signed to Ludacris’ Disturbing Tha Peace label. Epps changed his name from ‘Tity Boi’ to ‘2 Chainz’ to mark the start of his solo career. He has released 4 studio albums, 7 mixtapes, and several singles. His notable mixtapes include T.R.U. REALigion (2011), Daniel Son; Necklace Don (2016) and Hibachi for Lunch (2016). His debut studio album, Based on a T.R.U. Story, was released in August 2012 by Def Jam Recordings. It sold upwards of 600,000 copies and was certified Platinum by the RIAA. The album was led by the singles “No Lie” featuring Drake, “Birthday Song” with Kanye West, and “I’m Different”. It was nominated for a Grammy Award for best rap album. It was also dubbed the 25th best hip hop album of 2012 by Spin magazine.

In September 2013, 2 Chainz released his sophomore album, B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time. It sold 63,000 copies during opening week. The album was supported by the singles “Feds Watching” featuring Pharrell Williams. Production was handled by Mike Will Made It, Diplo, Drumma Boy, and a few others. 2 Chainz’s other albums include ColleGrove (2016) and Pretty Girls Like Trap Music (2017). Both albums sold significantly fewer copies than his first two solo projects.
