We're learning more about what happened in the hours after Lori Daybell's husband was shot and killed in Arizona.

Chandler police just released all of its files from the investigation into his death.

About two hours after Charles Vallow was shot and killed in his home, Lori Vallow, his estranged wife, walked into a police interview room, beaming for joy over Tylee's school grades. She leaned forward and sat up in the chair as the interview officially started.

"It sounds like some of this may have started last night, or something along those lines, so start when you think it makes the most sense," the police interviewer said.

Lori explained to the detective that she and Charles were separated. But Charles was coming over to take JJ to school. He left his phone inside the house, and when he came back in, Lori had it, and wouldn't give it back. She said that's why her brother Alex came out of his room.

Charles and Alex started fighting, and Tylee, her 17-year-old daughter, came out with a bat, and then went outside to be with her brother. Once Alex pulled the trigger, Lori went out with the kids.

When the detective left Lori's room, she grabbed a tissue and dabbed her eyes. Then, she closed her eyes and nodded off.

Chandler police also released a video showing Lori in the drive-through at Burger King on the way to taking JJ to school.

Tylee, just 17 years old, was also a witness to the scuffle inside the home. While waiting for a detective in the interview room, she was fidgeting and humming, but then broke down. She told a similar story to investigators.

"Do you know what happened inside of the house? Has your mom kind of explained it all to you?" the police interviewer asked.

"I heard a noise... it sounded like someone took [the baseball bat] and hit it really hard against the floor," Tylee said.

Tylee told detectives she tuned out all the yelling and didn't know what the fight between her step-father and uncle was about.

"Honestly it feels like two seconds and forty minutes at the same time."

Another interview was released between detectives in Arizona and Alex Cox—the man who shot and killed Charles Vallow. Police immediately suspected this may have been more than just self-defense.

"You came towards him. And then, what happened right after that?" the interviewer asked.

"He shoved me and spun me around," Cox said. "And then cracked me in the back of the head."

"What happened when you came out with the gun?"

"I said put that bat down," Cox said. "He says 'what, are you gonna do it like that?' And he came at me."

Cox said he fired two shots into Charles as he was coming at him then washed his hands off in the sink, put his gun in the bedroom, called 911 and started CPR.

But after walking through the scene and comparing it to Cox's description, investigators became suspicious. One of the bullet strikes was on the ground beneath Charles, like he was shot while he was already lying on the ground.

It led one officer to write this: "It was suspected that Cox was not being truthful."

And the firefighters told investigators they found no evidence that Cox had actually performed CPR on Charles.
